A rare mother and duaghter set of button. The figure is of silvered brass and is applied to a flat lacquered brass button with engraved wall and archway.  The Little Colonel series fo books for children was written by Annie Fellows Johnston.  The first one of the series entitled "The Little Colonel" appeared in 1895.  The little girl heroine was based upon a real child the author met while on a visit to Kentucky.
